CSN supports the UN Global Compact

CSN took an essential step in 2020 when it was accepted as a signatory member of CSN supports the UN Global Compactthe world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, which is a call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles to human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals. The Brazilian Global Compact Network also supports the business sector to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. CSN is fully committed to these principles, as demonstrated in the Integrated Report 2018-2019, which highlights our initiatives in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption, as well as presenting five major ambitions for the coming years, which are: communication and transparency; environmental performance, ethics, and governance; health and safety; strategy and sustainability.

Learn the 10 UN Principles:

Human Rights

Principle 1: Respect businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
Principle 2: Ensure make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour

Principle 3: Support businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Principle 4: Eliminate the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
Principle 5: Eradicate the effective abolition of child labour.
Principle 6: Stimulate práticas que eliminem qualquer tipo de discriminação no emprego.

Environment

Principle 7: Accept businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
Principle 8: Develop undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
Principle 9: Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption

Principle 10: Combat businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery
