Our businesses are highly integrated, as we operate in the entire steel production chain, from the extraction of iron ore to the production and sale of coils, metal sheets for packaging and steel profiles. In addition, we manage and create value for co-products, contributing to cash generation and the development of the circular economy, which provides operational eco-efficiency, integrates our operating segments and contributes to sustainable development. In this sense, our production model is based on the concept of circular economy, as we use materials from our own operations to produce consumer goods.
CSN maintains several instruments of Social and Environmental Management and Sustainability aimed at acting in a purposeful manner and serving the various stakeholders involved in the communities and businesses in which it operates. We work constantly to transform natural resources into prosperity and sustainable development. For this, the Company monitors and guarantees the proper functioning of its Environmental Management System (EMS), implemented in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001: 2015, certified by an independent international organization in all its main units. Around 95% of the Group’s production units are certified under this standard, the remaining 5% have internal audits carryed out by specialists, which guarantees the environmental compliance of the unit.

Our Environmental Management Policy and System reinforce our commitment to generating value for our stakeholders and are aligned with regulatory guidelines and global best practices, promoting the deployment of these guidelines in all operations, detailing responsibilities and procedures to be followed. Guided by our Policy, the operating units have areas responsible for the Management of Sustainability, Environment, Health and Safety, which support the processes, with the mission of providing innovative and targeted environmental solutions, according to the context of each operating unit.
