March 8, 2023
With the acquisition of 5 integrated factories and 5 milling plants of LafargeHolcim Brazil, located in the Southeast (SP, RJ, MG and ES), Northeast (BA and PB) and Midwest (GO) regions, as well as high quality limestone reserves and concrete and aggregate units, the CSN group also becomes a giant in the Cement sector. In all, CSN Cimentos now has 13 plants in the country and a production capacity of 16.3 million tons of cement. With this acquisition, CSN becomes the second largest cement producer in Brazil.
The expansion of CSN Cimentos is aligned with the csn group’s strategy amid the increase in cement consumption in Brazil, demonstrating the company’s ability to assume a prominent role in the sector. Operational, logistics, management and commercial synergies are some of the advantages.
With a diverse portfolio, the Company’s products can be used at all stages of construction. From slabs, beams, pillars, chapiscos, coatings, floors and counterfloors, sidewalks, baldrames, foundations, among others.
The beginning of a success story
A story that began just over a decade ago, in the search for diversification of its business and a greater optimization of internal resources, CSN started from scratch, in 2019, in the construction of the Volta Redonda plant and an initial capacity of 2.3 mtpa. In 2015, with the start-up of arcos grinding, it reached a capacity of 4.7 mtpa, occupying the 6th position in the ranking of the largest cement producers in Brazil. In June of this year, it acquired the Elizabeth Cimentos plant in Paraíba, with 1.3 mtpa. An important milestone that took the Company’s presence beyond the Southeast and was the first step towards the strategy of geographical diversification and consolidation of the sector.
