The Environmental Education Program (PEA), in partnership with the Volta Redonda Departments of Education and Environment, has been dedicated to a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources. This includes educational visits with public school students to the Cicuta Forest, at the CSN Research Center, and various awareness-raising activities.
The creation of a vegetable garden at the Prof.ª Emiliana Marcondes da Siqueira Casagrande Municipal School by students and the transformation of a classroom at the Pará Municipal School into a sustainable classroom, with toys and materials for daily activities, are also highlights of the program.
Environmental Education Program (PEA)
In 2022, CSN launched the Environmental Education Program (PEA) in Volta Redonda, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with the local City Hall, through the Departments of Education and Environment. The program is run by the Fundação CSN and serves 23 public schools, aiming to raise awareness among students, teachers, and the community in general about the importance of sustainability.
Through workshops, lectures and practical activities, the PEA promotes the balanced integration of the various dimensions of sustainability (environmental, social, ethical, cultural, economic, spatial, and political) in development, seeking to contribute to improving the quality of life of the population.
