CSN Foundation holds planting ceremony for the Resgatando Saberes (Rescuing Knowledge) project
March 4, 2025
The Resgatando Saberes (Rescuing Knowledge) project, run by the CSN Foundation and aimed at the elderly population of Volta Redonda, will hold its first greenhouse planting on Tuesday, March 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Pandiá Calógeras Technical School (ETPC). The ceremony will bring together representatives from partner institutions and mark a new cycle for the initiative, which promotes vegetable cultivation and the exchange of knowledge about family farming, healthy eating, and sustainability.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between the CSN Foundation, CBS Previdência, the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Volta Redonda (AAPVR), the Volta Redonda Educational Foundation (FEVRE), the Municipal Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (SMEL), the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (SMAS), and the Municipal Council for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly of Volta Redonda (CMDDPI).
Renata Machado Inácio, Communication and Marketing Manager at AAPVR, highlights the importance of collaborating with the CSN Foundation: “The partnership expands our capacity to serve the elderly community with innovation and sustainability. The greenhouse allows us to teach new habits without losing the pleasure of cultivating, encouraging the exchange of knowledge between generations.”
Resgatando Saberes offers various activities to participants, such as:
- Suspended cultivation of vegetables and legumes;
- Training in planting and healthy habits;
- Conversation circles on health and well-being;
- Tasting of harvested foods;
- Exchange of cultural experiences between generations;
- Sharing recipes and tips on digital platforms.
Geralda Miula da Silva, 70, expresses her enthusiasm for the project: “I have worked in several areas, but here I found myself. It is therapy for all of us. I count the days until classes, where I learn and experience new things. We plant, work the land, and harvest what we consume. It is gratifying to share these experiences with my family.”
The project takes place three times a week, in the morning and afternoon, at ETPC and at the headquarters of Projeto Garoto Cidadão, benefiting 100 seniors, divided into classes of 50 participants per shift.
