CSN’s Diversity Program wins Faz Diferença Award

An initiative organized by Firjan, in partnership with Jornal o Globo, awarded the company in the Rio Development Category. The initiatives promoted by CSN to increase diversity at the Presidente Vargas Steelworks, in Volta Redonda, won the Faz Diferença Award, in the Rio development category.
The Diversity Program aims to create an inclusive environment, strengthening respect for all workers, in addition to creating initiatives that favor development for equal opportunities. The highlights were the increase in the representation of women in the Steel Industry and the training of groups (Gender and Race).
According to Anderson Castro, People and Steel Management Manager, Usina Presidente Vargas achieved important results, such as, for example, an increase from 7.5% in 2018 to 10.4% in gender representation in 2020.
The announcement of the winners of all categories was made last Saturday (31/7) in the special supplement on Faz Diferença, in the newspaper O Globo – Click here to read the article. The award ceremony will take place on 25/8, at Casa Firjan (Rio de Janeiro). Milton Picinini Filho, Executive Director of Steel Production, highlights his pride in receiving this award, which is the result of the company’s collective work to promote a welcoming environment for diversity, and represents a paradigm shift in a heavy industry such as steel.
The company, which is turning 80 years old, also signed the Global Compact with the UN to implement ESG practices (acronym in English for environmental, social and corporate governance aspects) throughout the group. – Diversity and Inclusion are part of our history, our nature and at the heart of the CSN Group’s ESG strategy. About the Award
In its 18th edition, the initiative is a partnership between the Federation of Industries of the State of de Janeiro (Firjan) and the newspaper O Globo and awarded the organizations that worked on a strategic vision of the business, integrating the social dimension with the objective of contributing to the sustainable development of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The projects implemented by the nominated companies were carried out in 2020 and are in line with the United Nations Organization (UNO) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)).
