• CSN Group ESG Committee meeting brings together ambassadors of the 2023 Cycle

    May 2, 2024

On February 7th and 8th, the CSN Group’s ESG Committee Meeting was held in São Paulo. The event, which marks the end of 2022 Cycle and the beginning of 2023 Cycle, was a great opportunity for exchange and integration among participants – in addition to providing an immersion in strategic themes for the Company.

For this new Cycle, 51 ESG ambassadors were appointed – in 2022, there were 26 people. The ambassadors are divided into eight groups, which are related to the Materiality Matrix of the CSN Group, namely: Climate Change, People, Water and Effluents, Circular Economy, Occupational Health and Safety, Compliance & Governance and Value Chain, Territories, Biodiversity & Forests.

The first day of the event featured lectures on the three pillars of ESG, focusing on the CSN Group’s strategy and expectations on each topic. The opening ceremony was carried out by Helena Guerra, the Sustainability, Environment, Health and Occupational Safety director at the CSN Group. Then, the agenda was governance, with Marcelo Cunha Ribeiro, Executive Director of Finance. To talk about the Social pillar, we had the presence of Monica Fogazza, President of the CSN Foundation, and Alan Gianotti, corporate manager of People and Management.

The second day of the meeting was focused on the interaction between the ambassadors. The groups presented their main projects within the themes and made a dynamic to advance their main goals for the year that begins.

One of the goals common to all working groups is to increasingly intensify and improve communication about all work related to ESG practices. For this reason, Luiz Paulo Barreto, Legal and Institutional Director of the Group, spoke with those present about “The importance of Communication for the ESG Ambassador”.

The event ended with a lecture by Ricardo Voltolini, CEO of Ideia Sustentável Consultoria and one of the most experienced specialists in corporate sustainability and ESG in Brazil.

“For 2023, we doubled the number of ESG ambassadors. This team was chosen strategically, as they are professionals who have an affinity and, more than that, knowledge of topics related to our Materiality Matrix. I have no doubt that we will have important advances in this new cycle”, explains Helena Guerra.
